The National Organization of Vine and Wine joins the international WiM Association

Brussels, 21 September 2016 - The National Inter-Professional Organization of Wine and Vine (EDOAO) becomes National Coordinator of the Wine in Moderation programme in Greece. Wine in Moderation–Art de Vivre is an international programme of the wine sector to inspire healthy lifestyles and well-being, and to contribute to the reduction of alcohol related harm. The programme counts the membership of 15 national wine associations in Europe and South America and actions have been developed in more than 25 countries.

The new cooperation was sealed during a meeting between the chairman of EDOAO Mr. Giannis Vogiatzis and Mr. Stylianos Filopoulos, director of the international organisation WiM Association, in the offices of EDOAO.

"All of us in the Wine in Moderation family are delighted to welcome back EDOAO and the Greek wine sector and we are looking forward to revealing the unique relationship of the Greek wine culture with a modern and healthy lifestyle. We are confident that EDOAO's leadership will help to establish moderation as trend and responsibility as a culture" mentioned Stylianos Filopoulos.

“Greece is known to be the earliest wine civilization and has historically truly influenced the moderate culture of wine. The addition of EDOAO to the family of Wine in Moderation reinforces the Mediterranean origin of this programme which strives to show people that wine is best appreciated without excess.” Mentioned Mr. George T.D. Sandeman, WiM Association President.

“This is a key partnership for the National Interprofessional Organization that starts today. The Wine in Moderation organisation, is active in strengthening responsible practices in business as well as information and awareness for responsible consumption of wine, coupled with a healthy lifestyle and desired prosperity. The wine sector in our country has a lot to gain from switching operations in the above directions, but also a lot to offer in this international programme. Apart from the prominent position of wine in the Greek diet and customs of our people, the priceless value of wine culture which comes from the historical antiquity and seem so modern in today's reality, deserves our attention." said Giannis Vogiatzis President of EDOAO, particularly stressing that “the programme and the multifaceted actions in Greece will be based on the long wine tradition of our country”.
